First step

Founded in Hamm as Senko Handelsgesellschaft to supply utilities in Eastern Europe. Initially focused on electrical components, later expanding to transformers, switchgear and transformer substations. The goal was to shorten delivery times and establish a reliable link between Western European manufacturers and customers in Eastern Europe—laying the foundation for what would later become rensys GmbH.

Poland branch

Foundation of a subsidiary in Poznań to enter the Eastern European market for medium- and low-voltage technology. This presence enabled direct market access and strengthened the company’s position before being sold to a manufacturer under an agreement in 2003.

EPC start

Expansion into EPC services for medium- and high-voltage technology. Following the EU’s eastern enlargement, manufacturers were able to deliver directly. Senko now offered complete substation solutions from planning to commissioning, ensuring competitiveness and providing customers with reliable energy supply from a single source.

Extra-high voltage & service

Foundation of a service company in Poland with a 24/7 offering for grid operators. Entry into extra-high-voltage technology up to 420 kV and disconnector sales. This enabled projects in Eastern Europe in the extra-high-voltage sector to be implemented for the first time.

Academic teaching and grid integration of renewable energy

Academic teaching at SRH Hamm (Grid Management – Electricity), including the development of teaching materials, lectures, laboratory courses, excursions and a research programme on the integration of pumped storage power plants in hard coal mines. Foundation of Rensys Management Consulting in Germany and Rensys Sp. z o.o. in Poland to advise international customers and develop grid access for wind farms, specialising in renewable energy and brand management under “Renewable Energy Systems”.

Offshore wind

Involvement in grid connections for German offshore wind farms such as Borkum Riffgrund and Gode Wind, with over 1 GW of capacity. Focus on technical solutions, stakeholder management and submarine cable routes across complex sea crossings.

Hydrogen feasibility studies

Analysis of the use of offshore wind power for hydrogen production at sea, including costs, storage alternatives and direct injection into the gas grid. Involvement in grid connections of German wind farms (e.g. Borkum Riffgrund, Gode Wind, >1 GW), focusing on technical solutions, stakeholder management and submarine cable routes in complex sea crossings.

Renewable energy & medium-voltage solutions

Implementation of a 20 MW electrolysis project to produce green hydrogen from wind power for CO₂-neutral public bus transport, and development of a distribution network in Poland for medium-voltage switchgear solutions, with a focus on grid operators and EPCs to ensure reliable energy supply.

Wind energy & integrated solutions

Market launch of an innovative wind measurement technology in Poland, including market development, customer presentations and trade fair appearances. Technical due diligence for several Polish wind farms. Product management of SCADA, WindFarm and medium-voltage systems for a German wind turbine manufacturer, including management of turbine options and power-boost features.

Global Services

Implementation of a global control center for wind turbine operations, including agile project setup, IoT integration and the selection of suitable software solutions.

Energy project development

Design and further development of services at the intersection of grid infrastructure, energy generation and commercial operations. Focus on product development and sales.

Charging infrastructure & digital grids

Planning and development of multi-MW charging stations for bus and EV depots in Germany with grid integration to manage peak loads. Training for engineers and academic staff at a digital substation in Zambia, including theoretical instruction and practical exercises on site.

Project management MV/LV

Overall responsibility for the energy supply of a wastewater treatment plant, including budget control, team leadership and on-site coordination under demanding project conditions.

Rensys GmbH and international projects

Foundation of Rensys GmbH in Hamm with team expansion to handle growing customer projects. Foundation of Segrico South in Montenegro for service projects in Southern Europe to enable rapid scaling and ensure quality assurance. Planning and negotiation of the replacement of 220/10 kV with 380/10 kV transformers, including a concept for maintaining partial operation during the conversion.

Grid development in Bavaria

Project management of the construction and upgrading of the 110/20 kV grid infrastructure in Bavaria – from planning through execution to commissioning.

Grid and storage projects

Management of a 250 MW battery storage project, including planning, coordination and risk management for grid integration; technical management of electrolysis projects with several hundred MW capacity from grid planning to commissioning; development and implementation of grid connection concepts for large generation parks such as Boldekow and Schadewohl.

380 kV extension

Project management for the expansion of a 380 kV substation, including coordination of all construction phases, stakeholder management, and ensuring compliance with time and budget targets.

Compact substation

Introduction of a compact, hybrid high-voltage switchgear for substations in Mecklenburg–Western Pomerania, designed for sites where space is limited.
